I Am Growing...

  • I like to move between various classroom learning centers. I need to move my body regularly. I cannot sit still for long periods of time.
  •
  • I am developing my large motor skills. I have limited fine motor skills.
  •
  • At age four, I am developing my hand and eye coordination.
  •
  • I am learning how to hold and manipulate materials. I may still grasp a pencil with my fist or can already clench a pencil with four fingers by age four. Around age five, I can hold a pencil with three fingers called a tripod grip. This dynamic ability allows me to have better control of my marks. I can cut basic shapes with scissors by age four or five.
  •
  • My coordination has improved by age six.
  •
  • By age six or seven, I have developed my fine motor skills further and am more dexterous with my fingers.
