Research is at the heart of my teaching practice. My research emphasis is on curriculum development for the classroom and broader community. In particular, I am inspired by researching contemporary artists and their practices, K-16 instruction, teacher professional development, and global education. Throughout my career, I have utilized participatory action research methodologies that make a significant difference in participants’ lives.
My forthcoming textbook Art Education: Thriving in Teaching and Learning bridges the gap between theory and practice. Its innovative curricular model supports students and teachers in their quest for creating a learning environment that centers on students’ needs using big ideas and the National Visual Arts Standards’ Framework of creating, presenting, responding, and connecting.
